What is Organizational Psychology?

organizational psychologists utilize psychological principles and research methods to solve problems in the workplace and improve the quality of life. They measure workplace productivity and management and employee working styles and the morale and personality of a company or organization.

Hugo Münsterberg, founder of Organizational Psychology, moved from Germany in 1892 to teach at Harvard University. In 1913 he published his first book on organizational psychology entitled "Psychology And Industrial Efficiency", marking the emergence of experimental science that studies employee productivity, personalities, and dealing with stress and combustion. Hugo was the first to conclude that employees' abilities and personalities are psychological factors that can be studied and controlled.
